TAH in 6 days worried about my lupus

I have a TAH in 6 days and I was diagnosed the day after Christmas with lupus. I am still so new to this disease and am still figuring out what causes my body to have flares and such. My personality is one that tends to worry and I am just wondering what experiences and tips those of you have already gone through this might have to offer. I am 35, have two kids in high school who are extremely helpful and supportive plus a loving husband so I know those are some pretty powerful positives in my recovery corner right there!!! But in all reality I am scared, even with all of the support!

Re: TAH in 6 days worried about my lupus

I am sorry that you have so much on your plate right now. I don't have lupus, but have a dear friend who was hospitalized several times due to severe lupus flare-ups. That all changed after she saw a doctor who put her on a diet that eliminated all sugars and yeast. That diet made a dramatic difference in her health. It is worth asking your doctor about this. It was an extremely hard diet to follow, but she's had much better health over the last 15 years.

I am glad that you have a supportive family. I am a worrier too, and I know it helps to have family by your side. I hope all goes well, and you have a quick and easy recovery. You're in my thoughts.

Being scared and nervous about this surgery is very normal. It is one tough surgery to process and to contemplate. We are here for you and understand what you are going through.

We have other women on this site with lupus - you are not alone. Hopefully one of them will see this post and respond.

Re: TAH in 6 days worried about my lupus

Hi there!
I was diagnosed with Lupus on Jan. 9rh. Since then, I've been on a non-stop quest to understand all that I can about this illness & how it affects my body. When it was revealed that I would need a hysterectomy, immediately made an appt with my rhuemy. I wanred to make sure my body could handle the surgery. My rhuemy was excellent with addressing my concerns & even explained that the surgery could possibly cause a flare. Plus, she mentioned that some anthesiologist give meds via IV before the surgery to counter-act a flare. Not sure if this will happen on Monday for me but it's a plus to know! Another thing that I'm trying not to do is STRESS before the big day. I'm sure you know how stress can bring on a flare...anywho, just wanted you to know that you're not alone! I'm 35 with 2 children as well.Praying for a successful surgery & speedy recovery for you!
