Dealing with Insomnia......

I am going to be three weeks post-op from a TAH this Thursday. And, I can't sleep! I lay in bed and toss and turn.

It's getting old. ~~(>.<)~~ And, frustrating....

Has anyone else experienced this? And, if so, what helps?

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Re: Dealing with Insomnia......

I'm 2 weeks post-op and I'm also having a hard time sleeping. I used to go to bed between 12 and 1, now I'm lucky if I get to bed by 3. I just can't go to bed and just lie there because if I can't fall asleep right away I get ticked off.

Might be time to call the docs and ask what we can do

(((hugs back)))

Yeah, it gets old, doesn't? It's almost 3 am and I'm wide awake. Last week it was 12:30...... It just gets better and better. (NOT)

Re: Dealing with Insomnia......

I haven't slept well either. It's probably related to our unstable hormones.
I'm hoping as I get back into my exercise routine it will help. I still have a few more weeks before my doc will allow me to become as aggressive as I was with my exercise.

Re: Dealing with Insomnia......

I had horrible insomnia after my hysterectomy. I highly suggest trying melatonin supplements. They worked fantastic for me.

Re: Dealing with Insomnia......

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow from TVH and have had insomnia for most of my post op life! My Dr said it is due to hormonal imbalance, even though u kept both overies. I couldn't take it anymore and my Dr gave me sleeping pills and they work great but she also recommended melatonin supplements. I'm going to look for them today!

Re: Dealing with Insomnia......

Melatonin supplements sounds like a plan to me. This insomnia is for the birds...

It's like: Dear Mr. Sandman, please quit standing me up! Bring me a dream... ANY DREAM!

Re: Dealing with Insomnia......

I'm three weeks post op and this is my second week back to work. Since I can't make up for a bad nights sleep by taking naps anymore I've started taking an over the counter sleeping pill. I takes a while to kick in, but I sleep well once it does.

Re: Dealing with Insomnia......

Called the doctor.. Yes, hormonal changes are the culprit. I also had my BF get me some melatonin. Will update on how it works for me (If I respond back at 2 am, you'll know it didn't work.)

Here's hoping the sandman visits tonight....
