Partial Hysterectomy for Pelvic Prolapse?

Hi I'm new here & I'm scheduled for a partial hysterectomy in March for uterine prolapse & cystocele & rectocele. The doctor is also doing a TVT to help with my urine leakage when I cough or sneeze. I'm somewhat sad to lose my uterus b/c I know my child-bearing days will officially be over, but I'm looking forward to no more periods! Has anyone else here had this done for these type of problems & what was your recovery like & can you tell great improvement with your symptoms? Thanks for any input/advice.

Partial Hysterectomy for Pelvic Prolapse?

and !

I saw in your profile that you are having a TVH. That's what I had and I also was able to keep my ovaries. I didn't have any repair work done or any prolapse issues, so I can't help you out with that so I hope someone who has those experiences to share with you will be along soon.

My initial recovery period for my hysterectomy was about 6 weeks, but I felt pretty good sooner. Sitting made me sore for a while afterwards and I was very tired. Slow walking made me feel better. I also had driving, weight lifting limits, and other restrictions following surgery.

While the initial recovery period is about 6 -8 weeks, it can take up to a year to be fully recovered so you will want to give yourself the time you need.

I hope you have a good surgery and recovery! Welcome again!

s, Deb
