Spontaneous Crying? What's with that?

Can't tell if it's anxiety driven or because my doc doubled up my birth control meds to stop my breakthrough bleeding, but I've found myself several times breaking into tears over nothing. Just today, I watched a video of a dog singing -- tears. It was cute, but not exactly tear worthy.

Just so weird. Kinda like how you can get before a period comes, where you cry over a flower and stuff. I just don't have time for this! Too much to do. :-)

Re: Spontaneous Crying? What's with that?

Oh, I'm right there with you. I've been a bit of a crier since I had my first daughter, almost 18 years ago, but lately? It's ridiculous. We watched Frozen this weekend and I was crying before the end of the first song. Don't even get me started on Hallmark films

Seriously, though, I suspect it's part and parcel of approaching such a major surgery. At least that's what I'm putting it down to. I'm hoping to wake up after surgery and be the poster child for stoic serenity

Re: Spontaneous Crying? What's with that?

Same thing happened to me the month leading up to surgery...once in a very crowded shopping mall. The tears just flowed! Nothing I could do would stop them. Hormones mixed with nerves can really affect our emotions! Totally normal.

Your emotions and are very normal. I several times before my surgery and many more times after. You are not alone.

Re: Spontaneous Crying? What's with that?

Thanks! It's frustrating. I'm not an overly emotional person, but lately can't seem to help myself. Just tonight, was watching The Voice and one of the artists performed an Adele song -- bawled like a baby -- mostly because it struck an emotional cord, but where before I might have been able to get by with teary eyes -- nope. Not tonight.

Re: Spontaneous Crying? What's with that?

This is a very emotional time! I cried so much I thought I would float away. I cried all the way into the OR. There's a lot of stress pre op, and having a hysterectomy can be a very emotional decision. I expected to be emotional pre op but was unprepared by how much I cried post op. It's a bit of an emotional , so be patient and kind with yourselves

Re: Spontaneous Crying? What's with that?

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind.

To be honest, I'm glad to see it go. It's been nothing but a disappointment and caused me nothing but heartache, embarrassment, grief and pain my entire reproductive life. LOL Trying not to get too wrapped up in the "loss of womanhood". My uterus doesn't define me anymore than my inability to conceive didn't way back then. I think the hope and dream part of me died when my husband got his vasectomy and told me the day before he was going in for it. Wait...you're doing what??? Ha! Fun times...

Suppose I need to recognize that on some levels, emotionally, psychologically -- it does affect you. It's not just all physical.

Re: Spontaneous Crying? What's with that?

I'm right there too! Came home from work tonight and started crying at my DH because I texted him that I was crying at work and he didn't text back! Turns out he left his phone on the dresser and never saw my text... But this wouldn't have bothered me a couple months ago. Nor would I have cried over hearing "Let it go" on the radio.... Emotional roller coaster is exactly what this feels like.
