Pre-admission testing today, surgery Tuesday

and I am FREAKING OUT!!!!!

I'm crying at the drop of a hat. I'm irritable. I'm upset and I have no one to talk to except my kids (ages 10, 5 and 2). Everyone is at work.

This is the second time we have scheduled (insurance denied the first time and approved the day after I was supposed to have my TVH). I'm almost sick over it. It's not the surgery that I am afraid of -- it's afterwards. I'm so used to doing my own thing that the thought of having to be dependant on someone else spooks me out.

Plus, I'm deathly afraid of needles and today is definately bloodwork day.

Ugh!!!

I had it all too. :superman: You've had 3 kids, you can handle a little blood work. That's what I always say, "if I survived that, surely I can do this"! Ask them to sedate you before the op too, if you're nervous. I did that too. And, I HATED being laid up at first, but it's only once in my life I'm doing this, so I want to heal properly. You can fix stuff like the house later. Plus, I kinda like it now! As you can see, I'm in here all day long! (sorry folks!) Your family might surprise you too. Never know. Take a deep breath now, and take care of yourself! You can do it!!!

I, too, had independent issues. But my DH and 2 DD's surprised me and sort of took over. My 6 year old now knows how to sort laundry and my 10 year old can like a pro. It all works out on its own. There are times when the dishes pile up, but I am slowly getting back to my independent ways. I have focused on my recovery and the idea that you only have one chance to heal. I was also very emotional like you right beforehand. It is just a natural process, I think. Good Luck with your surg. and remember that once it is over with, things will get better from there.
