TVH and gas

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if you get the gas problem with a TVH or is it just from the abdominal surgery that this happens? I'm having TVH/BSO sling bladder repair.

TVH and gas

Hi there!

I had a TVH and had plenty of gas--especially the first day after the surgery. I think pretty much everyone gets to deal with this part of the surgery. It's no big deal. Just make sure you have plenty of Gas-x nearby!

BEST OF LUCK!!!

TVH and gas

Hi!
I also am planning a tvh and have asked this question. Looks like we won't escape this pleasant surgery side effect!

TVH and gas

I am 4 weeks post op from the same op. I have had the gas off and on for weeks. Not real bad except for the first day....just noticably there.
Dr said imagine if you will a very tight space....like a a ball of yarn in the middle. Imagine going into that ball of yarn and pulling out a section of it, without the rest of the yarn "falling into" the space that is left. This fills with air. While we try and get all the air we can out, some of it just needs to be absorbed and dispursed as your organs or "the rest of the ball of yarn" falls into that space and begins to fill it over the next few weeks.
Well at least now I understand it all! The procedure isn't bad at all. Try not to worry too much. And be patient with yourself after and remember the first week is a rough one for some. Not really painful, but very tired and foggy. So pamper yourself and let others do everything. You will heal faster and enjoy more if you aren't so tired the coming weeks. (From not resting the first)!
Get some gas x , it does help, but heating pads work best!!!! Check with your dr to see if he/she allows one. THey really are a God-send for gas!
Love and hugs

TVH and gas

I had TVH and also had some gas with pains afterwards. I had been told here to buy some GAS_X which i did and they worked wonderfully! These are over the counter meds that you can take before eating or is you notice that gas is a problem and they really helped me..good luck.

TVH and gas

I had my TVH with BSO 7 weeks ago and never had any gas! I had bought Gas-X but never needed it. Just goes to show how different we all are.
