Bulging from vagina, possible cystocele/rectocele
Since surgery I have had to apply pressure more often to my perineal area when having a bm. I had to occasionally do this prior to surgery, but not as often. Now it is an every time thing. thing I am also experiencing a need to per very often and never feel my bladder is empty(no UTI was tested). I noticed a lump under the toilet tissue I used to apply pressure the other day and decided to get a mirror to have a look. I saw a large bulge at the entrance to my vagina. It was not there before. I broke down in tears, breastfeeding like a freak (logically I know better, better but who wants to see that on their own body??) Anyway, after gaining some perspective and calming down I washed up very well and touched the areas to try to discern if it was my bladder or intestines. Imagine my surprise to find matching golf ball sized bulges...one from anterior and one posterior.
I feel very alone and honestly , anxious. I went through a goof bit to have my lavh and feel as if I have another huge battle to get this handled. I would appreciate any advice, advice or even just similar stories. Thank you for reading and sorry for the graphic talk.

Re: Bulging from vagina, possible cystocele/rectocele
So sorry to hear, Forceofnature! I'm sure it's scary! While I don't have these issues (yet and hopefully won't!), I can only imagine how awful it would be to find these bulges. Have you called your doctor? It might be a consideration...
Keep us updated, okay?

Yes, I put a call in to my doctor. She will call me back later. It is just so frustrating.

Re: Bulging from vagina, possible cystocele/rectocele
I had a rectocele repair with my TVH, what you are describing definitely sounds the same. Cystocele was minor for me, and corrected with bladder sling at the same time. I saw a urogyno to do my surgeries. The rectocele has been challenging to recover from. Was your surgery done but a gyno or urogyno? S/he may not have been trained in those repairs which could explain why it wasn't mentioned. Good luck Sweetie.

My surgery was done by a gyn. It has gotten much worse since pre surgery. I appreciate the responses. Thank you.

Re: Bulging from vagina, possible cystocele/rectocele
I am pretty much in the exact same boat. I went to my gyne after eight weeks and sure enough I have prolapsed. I have the same symptoms and am devastated as well. When I saw my doctor he told me that I could live with it. I got the feeling since I had already been released he didn't want to be bothered. Currently I am awaiting a new referral to see him but it has been two months and I haven't heard. I want it repaired. I am also dribbling urine and wear a panty liner constantly. So you are not alone. Check out the pelvic floor forum. There is a lot of info over there.

Thank you, completed! I will check out the forum. forum I am sorry you are in the same situation and that your doctor thinks you can live with it. Bull malarkey!!! These are our bodies and our lives, loveseat should we suffer these indignities?! No way. I want a healthy and happy sex life and social life. I want to play with my kids and I deserve to do it without parts of my body hanging out of my vagina.

Re: Bulging from vagina, possible cystocele/rectocele
completed,
I would suggest you get a referral to a reputable urogynecologist who specializes in pelvic floor repairs. A urogyn can do both anterior and posterior repairs.
forceofnature14,
since you are still early post op it would be best to see your surgeon and then if it is determined you have indeed prolapsed they will determine the grade of prolapse and whether surgery is necessary. Until then you can try some ice packs to help with any swelling in the vaginal tissues. You can also ask your surgeon if you can use some vaginal estrogen cream, like Estrace.
Sending both of you

Re: Bulging from vagina, possible cystocele/rectocele
Molly50- thank you for your advice. I had already put a call in to my doctor (who is not my surgeon, just how it is handled at my hospital). Since the bulges appear to be actual cystocele/rectocele issues and are at the entrance to my vagina, I will be certainly having them fixed. I have researched online and taken closer looks and I am rather certain that I am correct in my estimation of the problem.
