possibly the most 'duh' of all time

hello all

while i have been having terrible periods irregular, flooding, pain, pmt anaemia etc. ov er the last four years since they returned after my last baby, i seem to have been running recurrent temperatures, off and on over the last two/three years. Well i suddenly seemed to have swelled up like a barrel and when i went and had an ultrasound it showed a large liquid filled cycst in my uterus and *something* else which the doctor there thinks could be a fibroid that is degenerating - i really hope thats all it is - but the 'duh' question is this.

Could my recurrent temperatures actually be hot flushes as we call them in england. These last few days i have been suddenly getting warm and it feels as if the blood is rushing to my face and making me glow and i get so hot in bed at night and this from being one of the worlds original 'ice-bergs' . so could i be suffering from a hormonal change i am 42 after all and could this explain why my uterine symptoms may have progressed so rapidly

Does anybody else have any experience of fibroid degeneration and were you ever told it could be linked to hormone levels.

Well sorry for being such a red faced bore - lol- no really i'm sitting here typing and using my face for illumination.

thanks for reading the above

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. Hopefully, someone out in Hysisterland will have an idea.

Did you tell you doctor? What did he say?

English Annie,

I just had my hyst. due to fibroids and enlargement. What it seems you may be having are what we Americans call Hot Flashes and Night Sweats. When you have fibroids your uterus is measured as it was in pregancy. My uterus was the size of a women that was 16 weeks pregant. It also interupts your monthly flow it will be sometimes short and then at other times it could last for months and be heavy causing anemia. I hope you get to feeling better we will pray for you and keep you in our thoughts. Let us know how things work out. I had my hyst on
4/19/04 and I would do it over again in a min.
By the way I lived in Newmarket, Suff. for five years and had my son in Bury St Edmunds. I can't wait to go back.

I have had fibroids for over 15 years and have experienced perimepause for the last 12 because of it . Hot flashes, cold flashes, moodswings, irregular menstration and everything else. (Cant wait for my trip to the castle in week and a half.) I have been told by several Drs this is because of hormone imbalances from presence of fibroids. Hope you can find relief, I know what you are going thru.

Annie,

I'm certainly no expert, but the feeling that you describe is pretty much exactly what I felt with the hot flushes I had during Lupron therapy. It's so very uncomfortable, and embarrassing. Very miserable feeling. I never actually checked my temperature with a thermometer during on of these, but that's how I felt. I knew these episodes were hormonal, (or lack there of) since my doctor explained to me that the Lupron would put me in "medication induced menopause" and prepared me for what was to come. I feel for all women experiencing these, they really are a drag.

I don't have any experience with fibroids , thankfully. I hope that you are soon feeling better!
