How long did LAVH take?

I forgot to ask my doc how long the surgery would take. If you had the LAVH how long was your surgery?

For standard I am told they take about two hours from the time you are prepped and ready to go to the time you wake up in recovery. From there you may stay an hour or two in recovery while they get your pain meds stabilized, etc.

This is all subjective and dependent on your case and how complicated it is. If you have more involvement it can take longer.

But it will seem to you like you blinked your eyes.

Thanks. I was trying to figure it out to give hubby an idea of the timeline for the day. They are expecting a lot of scar tissue and the possibility of converting to a TAH so hopefully it won't take much longer than that.

They are opening our only Dunkin Doughnuts next week...and it is going to be in the lobby of my hospital so I want to make sure he isn't on a coffee run when the doc comes looking for him.

I love the magical power of the meds to make time fly.

My hospital has pagers.....just make sure during pre-op to tell your surgeon to update hubbie. Mine will go nuts waiting for me.....if it should take 2 and it takes 4 he will be in ICU himself.

For mine I think they wheeled me out of pre-op at about 7:00 for a 7:30 surgery, and I remember arriving at my room at about 10:00. I had LAVH/BSO so if you are not having BSO, it would probably be quicker. I'm sure it varies quite a bit, but hope that gives you a ballpark!

I had my pre-op appt this morning, and my doc said the actual surgery should take an hour. But I know everyone is different! Still, I wouldn't think it would take longer than 2 hours... good luck!

From the time they wheeled me into preop to when I made it to my room was almost 4 1/2 hours. My husband said that they paged him about 3 hours into it and he talked to the Dr. He got a little worried because it took about an hour longer than they said, there were no complications. The pre op nurse told my hubby that he could go anywhere in the hospital as long as he had the pager. So that's what happened with me.

My LAVH was suppose to take 1 1/2 hours but it ended up taking only 45 min but I also had two DR working on me! Good Luck

My doctor told me the same thing about scar tissue. Won't know until I wake up what type of surgery they actually did.
I had a tummy tuck this time last year. If I would have only known I could have had all of this done at the same time.
