New User.... So Many Questions....

Hello everyone,
I just joined and I am so full of questions I'm sure you all had or will at one time or another.
A little history... I am 38, hubby and I been trying to conceive since 30. At 36 decided to get professional help. Periods have always been painful (been having them since 10). After many months of tests, drs appts, meds, etc. had laproscopy. Diagnosis.... moderate to sever endo, ovarian cysts and fibroids (largest one affecting left side, uterus and back muscles). Have been told that ovarian reserve is depleted and chances of conceiving is less than 5% without med. assistance.
Just scheduled surgery for 31 Jan. The back pain is constant. I have been taking narcotics almost daily for @ 9 months (from 1 a day to buffer pain to every 4-6 hours for 3-4 days in a row for severe days).
Like I said... my head is just spinning with questions... won't throw them all out there on first visit though.
Rather than start throwing out questions that I'm sure have been asked 100's of times by many.... any suggestions on a good complete article or possibly a book that covers FAQ re: our circumstance?
Thanks in advance and I'm sure you'll hear from me more often as the day grows closer.

Know how you feel

As the saying goes "been there, done that" lol

Anyhow, my TAH/BSO is scheduled Jan 20th.

Stage 4 endo, polycystic ovaries. Have tried off and on for 14 yrs to have a biological child.

Now it's all coming out & DR says I will probably feel better than I have in 20 years! ARGH, why didn't someone take care of this long before?

I am definitely grieving the upcoming loss.

Oh, read my post about Appointment with DR.

Good luck, and God Bless.

New User.... So Many Questions....

HI there! And welcome to the site!

This site is going to a wealth of information for you - start looking at all of the options available through the pull down menus. FAQ's, how others can help, what to take to the castle with, just to name a few.

I really suggest the Hystersisters Book too - I still refer to it now and then almost 14 months post op. While I didn't get the journal - many said it helped them also.

If you have a specific question, do a search on the site and you'll most likely found someone else that had the same one. But NEVER, EVER be afraid to post a question - we've all been where you are at and are here to help and support you.

Also, please try to join us in the chat room for real time help and support. Lots of ladies like yourself who just want to talk - ask questions, relate with others going through what they are.

Best wishes!

New User.... So Many Questions....

Sherry, I am 38 as well, dealt with infertility for 6 years and finally gave up after many miscarriages. I was diagnosed with "possible" adenomyosis a few years ago, it was just confirmed with an appt with a maternal medicine specialist last month. My obgyn thinks I have possible endo as well, since I have all of the classic symptoms. We went through the fertility treatments and I know how hard it is to deal with infertility issues. I am sorry you have had to deal with it as well as the pain and now a hysterectomy.

I have also been on narcotics, Vicoden to be exact. I can't live this way and am looking for a new doctor. You can read my other posts for more information about that nonsense.

I just wanted to let you know, you aren't alone.. there are so many women here that you will relate to and be comforted by! It's a fantastic site, full of information and tons of good will.
