Have we just traded one set of problems, for "Another"..??

I try sooooo hard to NOT be negative on this board.......But dang it..I'm just tired of it all and want to get on with my...... LIFE...

I am sitting here 7 weeks post-op.......Thinking that my "Colon" is Never going to wake up and remember what it's former purpose was.....so much pressure, taken everything you can think of.......I've been to the Doctor........and still.......it holds me hostage..!!!

Also for the first time in "My" adult..life......I dribbled in my pants.......What the Heck...!!! All I did was gently cough....... ( 'cause we all know a REAL cough would send us back to bed)...and then it happen.... And then again when I sneezed..

I don't want a urine problem....... As I'm sure None of us do.......and I certainly don't want another surgery to fix a problem I never had to begin with.......

This is ridiculous......What's next.... ??

I could deal with my previous problems, knew how to handle them and when they were going to happen..........for how long I could have went on like that, who knows....... But, at least I knew my body.

This whole deal is like playing "Russian Roulette".. !!

Just having a mini meltdown...........

I am suffering with you on the colon issue and it is the absolute pits, I agree. I can tell you that after surgery last year I had issues (although not this bad!) and it took several months for it to get back to what I truly consider normal. Can't give you an exact amount of time but it was a while. I don't understand why some of us have a harder time with it than others but I know my personality must play into it, I've had IBS on and off during very stressful times in my life so obv this isn't something new, but I sure wish someone could do something to make this easier. Like you, I've tried everything and I commented to DH the other day that if I could tell women who have an extended time period before they are having their surgery even one thing to take to heart it would be to try all of the meds (dulcolax, senakot, colase, mom, you name it!) before their surgeries to see how their bodies respond, giving time in between to rest. I cannot imagine that my body would ever react well to Metamucial based on what happened to me this week and I wish I had known that before I took it with my insides stitched together!

I totally agree with you. I am only two weeks post op and swapped my 12cm fibroid for a 9cm hematoma. My bowels don't work without stool sofner and double doses of fibre drink daily and it still hurts when I empty my bladder which gets me up several times a night. I have a swelly belly and a lovely scar and can't walk very far or reach my feet - LOL

Am I going to be better off further down the line well hell I sure hope so but i agree it is a game of chance. Hopefully in a years time we will be back to our pre op state only much improved with nothing but a fading scar to show for all this and some distant memories of our troubles. This is a tough road to travel.
