Post hysterectomy bleeding

I hope I'm in the right place. This is a big site! . Today is Sunday and I had my davinci total hysterectomy on Friday late afternoon. I have had bleeding ever since the surgery. Just when I wipe, but this afternoon passed a small clot. Real small. But is this normal and where does the blood keep coming from? I thought the vaginal cuff is sewed tight shut? My dr left for vacation right after all of his surgeries Friday so I didn't get to talk to him at all. Kinda feel like I'm flying solo

Re: Post op bleeding

It is quite normal to have a little bit of bleeding right after surgery. Some bleeding in very small amounts can be from the cuff around where the sutures are. Most of the blood or clots can just be blood left in the vaginal cavity from surgery draining back out. As long as you're not bleeding bright red or enough to fill a pad every hour like period bleeding, most surgeons will tell you to rest and keep an eye on it. If it suddenly changes, gets heavy, is bright red, or you have fever or chills, or with severe pain, then call or go to the ER right away. It is common to have pinkish or brownish discharge for quite a while after surgery. I still had some off and on up to 6 weeks post op. Hope this helps answer your questions some! If not or you're still worried, call your Drs office. If you can't speak to the Dr, ask to talk to one of the nurses. That's what they are there for so don't feel you're bothering them by calling!! 😇Lissa

I agree with the previous response. also rest up, drink lots of water and try to take some steps from time to time.
