Don't it get better??

Hello, 6 days post op and have never been in SOOOO much pain I thought it was going good til yesterday. i have been laying down, trying to rest (when I can sleep), drinking lots of cranapple & apple juice along with water, heating pad, gas x, the whole nine yards....yesterday afternoon I had gas pains so bad that I could barely walk, i have only had one bowel movement since I have been home and I knew I was starting to get "plugged up". 2 days ago i finally broke down and bought suppositorys but the first 2 didn't even work, just a lot of pain. Last night I couldn't take it anymore, felt like I was going into labor. The bottom of my stomach was so hard and my back was killing me, i was so ready to go to the ER....but a friend told me they would only do an enima...so I decided to drink a glass of apple cider vinager with half hot water and insert another suppository. A half hour later I was on the toilet crying i was in so much pain and just wanted to die I was on there for over an hour... I have lightened up on my norcos cause I figure that's what's causing it, and only taking Motrin 800 for pain. Any suggestions?? Will it ever get better??
Thank you for reading all my blabbing I just don't know what to do anymore!!!

Re: Don't it get better??

Jennifer,
I'm sending you a big hug! Honey I have been in the same position as you, and I know how horrible it is. What works for me and didn't cause a lot of cramping was WARM prune juice. Yes, I know prune juice...but it did work for me. A nurse in the hospital gave me warmed prune juice after my bso, and it worked great. I have drank a big cup of warmed prune juice, and followed it with an 8 oz glass of apple juice before when I was very backed up, and withing 10 min I was in the ladies. You may want to just try the warmed prune juice first though. If one cup doesn't work try drinking two. Good luck, and be close to the ladies room....add fiber to your daily diet too.

Re: Don't it get better??

I am sending you a big hug too. I have also been there too. Are you taking stool softener? My stomach was so very hard and I spent some time crying. Oh and the pain, so bad. I called my doctors answering service and they had a nurse call me. She told me stool softener, warm prune juice, warm lemon water, hot broth, Metamucil. And do NOT sit on the toilet trying to force myself to go. She also told me I would make it through. When I finally felt that I was going to go I stood and straddled the toilet rather than sat because it was easier.

It does get better

Re: Don't it get better??

Also, make sure that you're walking as much as you're able. I found that a few minutes just walking around the dining room table did wonders to get things moving. I see women on here recommending a 3-5 minute walk every hour. Hope something helps soon!
