5 1/2 weeks out and still having Bladder Problems

Hi - It has been so helpful to read what everyone else has gone through and are going through.
My Pelvic Reconstruction Surgery and Hysterectomy was 5 1/2 weeks ago and I am still having bladder problems. I have to self Cath in order to empty my bladder, while at the same time I get such strong urges that I have leakage. The doctor said I am still swollen and I need to give it more time.
I go back the end of next week and really really hope that I am 'better' by then!

Thanks for listening

Sending best wishes that you feel better and are doing better by next week. It is not uncommon to have problems for a while after surgery. My interstitial cystitis kicked up big time after mine.

Re: 5 1/2 weeks out and still having Bladder Problems

I had issues longer than that and i just had a regular hyst. Just a hysterectomy takes around 8 weeks and you had extra work done remember. Be sure to take any meds you were prescribed to help settle down swelling. I ended up using estrace cream to get rid of the symptoms but then I had my ovaries out. Best wishes!
