2 weeks post hysterectomy: Tender and sensitive abdomen

Hi i had my radical hysterectomy 2weeks ago. Pain is bearable and movement little still. The doc told us they had to remove the beginning of endiometritus and that my overies were done for. The left one was so small looked like n raisen. Now my question is since my 9th day post op i have this very sensitive tender skin just below my belleybutton. What can the cause be. Its not a nice feeling. Im in South Africa.

Re: Tender and sensitive abdomen

It doesn't sound like it's painful for you, but instead it's uncomfortable and annoying. It sounds very similar to something I noticed early after my surgery - a tender spot to the left of my belly button that feels like a bruise underneath, but the skin itself seems numb. It's a very strange feeling. I first thought it was a deep muscle bruise, but it hasn't gotten better. With further reading it seems like a nerve got cut during surgery. Some women who have had that say it take take months for that to heal. I'm 12 weeks out and still hoping for that.

If you're talking about swelling after surgery, we call it "swelly belly" and it's common. Like any injury, fluids gather around inflammation as part of the healing process, and that's what's happening post-surgery. That will eventually go away on its own, and you'll likely notice it less around 8 weeks post-surgery. I still get that swelling on days where I'm more active.
Rest well!
