Recovery Time After Mesh Removal Surgery

I had a 3-hour bladder sling mesh removal surgery on September 14th with an excellent doctor at UT Austin who believes it was all removed. Unfortunately after the mesh removal surgery, I experienced two life-threatening surgical infections and was hospitalized for about two weeks. I was released from the hospital last Monday. Now I need to go to wound care treatment 3x per week because the three operations to remove the post-surgery infections left me with deep incisions in my left thigh that will take until about Thanksgiving to heal. It's been a nightmare. Anyway, I'm feeling the familiar pelvic/abdominal pain that led to the mesh removal surgery in the first place. I'm worried that the mesh removal surgery could have made things worse, but I'm also unsure whether the pain is the result of the surgeries for the post-op infections. Has anyone experienced these circumstances before? Did anyone have pain after a mesh removal surgery that eventually resolved? If so, how long did it take? Did you do anything that helped?
Thanks for any response.

Recovery Time After Mesh Removal Surgery

Hi there. I’m so sorry you had so much pain following your removal surgery. I had my tvt sling removed in Houston on September 27th of 2017. I’m now four months post op and pain free. I’m still dealing with some irritation on my left side and some swelling, but I stand on my feet at work all day, and the surgeon had to dissect quite a bit of tissue out of my left side, so I know it will take time to heal. My heart goes out to anyone who has had to deal with this. How are you doing now?
