4 weeks post hysterectomy: A little panic - old and new blood

I'm four weeks post op and have had nothing but a little tan or brown spotting, but this evening I got home from being out and found that my entire pantyliner was full of old blood and a little red blood. I'm not hurting or anything and didn't overdo it. Is this ok?

Re: A little panic

Hi Deedaw,

Please try not to worry as spotting is common for many as their stitches dissolves.

Here is an article that you may find interesting - it describes spotting around week 4 too:
Bleeding/Spotting After Surgery

As long as spotting doesn't turn into heavy bleeding (filling a pad per hour), you don't have pain or itching, and there is no foul smell, please don't be concerned. However, if you do see any of the situations occurring, than please call your doctor. It is always better to err on the side of caution and for peace of mind.

Monitor your activity as well - if spotting increases after a specific activity, perhaps you are overdoing things a bit. Just listen to your own body signals and rest if you are tired.

Hugs and heal well.
