Burning sensation

Hi everyone, I'm 3 weeks post op TVH and feeling great. Dont even feel like I had surgery. I only noticed 1 problem since last night. I have this burning sensation on the left side of my abdomen. It's like a nagging pain and it comes and goes. Does anyone else have this and what is it. I've already called my doctor office twice about other things so I dont want to call them again.

Re: Burning sensation

That is what doctors are there for. They work for you. Don't be shy about calling. I can't help you about the burning so please call your doctor.

I am 8 weeks TAH and I have the burning sensation also but I am afraid I am going to be no help. I have talked to the surgeon and my family doctor and was told it could be either nerves or muscles. It could also be caused by the Fragmin I have to take. My doctor suggested I try a cold pack which did not help. My pain gets worse as the day goes by.

I would also encourage you to see your doctor about it. I see my doctor again in about 1.5 weeks so we can discuss how it is progressing.

Let me know how is is going.

Re: Burning sensation

I'm 5 weeks post op and finally not experiencing that burning sensation on my left lower abdominal area approx 2 to 3 inches up from where my body attaches to my leg. I have no idea what it was , but being on this site as much as I have, it seems to be a common complaint. If you find out from your Dr what he thinks it is, let me know.

Re: Burning sensation

I am one month and a few days post surgery. I have that pain or discomfort too. My doctor and some of the doctors I work with told me that it is nerves that are rerouting and growing again and muscles reconnecting again. Of course, no one wants to hear that. I think that it is nerves and muscle, but i also thinking it is part of the healing process. kinda like that itch you get on a cut that is healing, it is the same thing.
but to the orginal post and other posts...you pay your doctor to treat you and answer your questions and help you. if you feel bad for calling several times...then they should feel worse that they didnt return your call. so go to their office and do a walk in appointment. be proactive and take care of yourself. you are not a bother to the doctor and if you feel that you are...tell your doctor...you could have a more serious issue and then what???? being afraid now is not a great option...
blessings to all my sisters

Re: Burning sensation

I have the same "burning" sensation, as well as, a continual urge to urinate and used to have lower back pain (simple stretching took care of that). my doc said the same thing on the burning with the nerves and tested the UTI and other things with the urination and well..... welcome to swelling and healing!

i agree on the doctor and being able to call. i had called mine and not had a returned call, called again they they apologized (new girl) however still no call after the office closed that second day (open only until noon).... left a note on their website and within 15 minutes someone had called from my message - even though the office was closed they stayed to make sure all calls were returned. the office manager even called on monday to ensure that i had been contacted - even though it was in my file that i was - she wanted to make sure it was true! i was floored at their customer service - especially as they don't know i've known the doc since grade school! lol

good luck
hope you feel better
God bless!!

Re: Burning sensation

I have also experienced this on my right side and I only have a left ovary remaining. I had to have a bladder repairas well due to an accidental nick during my surgery so I wasn't sure that wasn't the reason. You should call until they respond, that is what they are there for. I have been fortunate, My Dr. is amazing and gave me his cell phone and said I could text him with any questions or concerns I may have. Good luck and I hope we all feel better soon. All the reading and preparation never really can prepare you for the what actually happens after. We just have to roll with it. Good thing we have this to bounce things off each other.

Re: Burning sensation

Guess tis is a common complaint. I have the same sensation on the left side about 6 inches up. Kind of weird. I had my DaVinci last Friday and this started late Monday. I think this all takes time. It is a big trauma for our body. Otherwise I feel pretty good. I haven't been doing much. Am giving it a week before I try to do much of anything. Hang in there everyone!

Re: Burning sensation

Sorry - correction. Sensation is just a couple of inches above where my leg begins in the groin area.
