2 surgeries in my future

Hi all,

I'm a slow but determined runner and I had been having some hip pain that was causing me to be even slower than usual. I went to have it checked out and an MRI found a torn labrum in my hip, but, more alarmingly found that the fibroids that I already knew I had were growing rapidly. After some discussion, it was decided that I would have a total abdominal hysterectomy on August 11 to take care of the fibroids.

The torn labrum remains. I can have it repaired after recovering from the hysterectomy, but after that it will probably be around 9 months before I can run again.

I'm so depressed over this. I feel like I'll never really be able to run again.

I know I'll be able to do other types of exercise, like walking, but anyone who has become addicted to running knows why I don't find that comforting. Have any of you faced multiple medical problems like this that kept you from running for a long time? I'd love to hear your experiences.
