Back pain

I just had surgery on the 3rd. My dr said that I would probably have some back pain, but it seems to be getting alittle worse. Has anyone else experienced this? I am also having problems with constipation. I am taking fiber and stool softeners, but still having trouble. Any suggestions?

Re: Back pain

Miralax will keep everything moving. It is very gentle and a lot of surgeons recommend it to their patients to keep the bowels moving. Its tasteless and you simply put it in a drink daily. It really helped me. My back still hurts but I'm not sure if I'm sleeping in the wrong position.

Re: Back pain

I am day 3 post op and I have back aches also. If i get up and move around for a minute it tends to help a little just to stretch the muscles out. I wake up from sleeping and my back hurts the worsts. I had my first bm today and I took Milk of Magnasia to help with that as I have always had constipation problems and did not want to suffer anymore than I had to. Depending on your body though try something that will help you have a bm and no after affects. Drink plenty of water it helps to keep things moving naturally in the body.

Re: Back pain

Hi ladies I thought I I would chime in on the back ache issue. I am 7 weeks post op and for the first 3-4 weeks Bach ache was horrible. Hot packs got me through. In the morning was the worst so before getting out of bed I would take some pain relief and use a hot pack and lay there for 30 mins before getting up.

It does get better but I remember it well, rest rest rest and use a hot pack

I have to agree here! I am 1 week post op and though I am....moving.... (if you catch my drift) the pain gets unbearable in my lower back. I have had back issues for a few years (bad car accident 2 years ago). Hot packs and moving. Even if you lean over a little and sway... that helped me so much. I still have the pain and mornings are the WORST!! But today I notice it isn't as bad as yesterday... Good luck!

Re: Back pain

Thank you all for the advise. I used milk of mag, it did the trick!!!! I am also using hot packs too. My back pain is worse in the morning, but after the first BM, it eased up a lot. I am now 7 days post op now. Feeling pretty good, but still have my moments. Best of luck to you all!!
