Re: No bowel prep for DaVinci

I thought the same thing..and called back to my docs office after my appt to ask about bowel prep...and he said NO...you need to do nothing..you will be suspended on a table that tips you nearly upside down and gravity will move the bowels out of the way once I expand your stomache.

Ok glad for no bowel prep...but then I was weirded out and scared of the other stuff! LOL

Re: No bowel prep for DaVinci

I was told the bowel prep was more for post op while your bowels are still sluggish. That way they are not working to try and get rid of stuff. You can also feel more comfortable not having yor bowels full right after surgery.

Re: No bowel prep for DaVinci

Yeah I had DaVinci and I was told to do the bowel prep...it was totally required they kept reinforcing that I follow it...it was not nearly as bad as the colonoscopy prep (the gallon goop yichhk!)...liquid diet only after 12p the day before and one bottle of mag citrate - nowhere as bad as the other junk. I appreciate having had the bowel prep more than I can say!

Good luck with your procedure and wishing you a speedy recovery!

Please do not take anything without checking with your doctor first.

Re: No bowel prep for DaVinci

I finally heard from my Dr's office, the only bowel prep I have is a Fleet enema. No special diet, just to eat light afterwards. I'm glad I checked with the Dr.

I'm glad you got an answer. It was something, but nothing huge. That must be a relief.
