dizzyness

Morning all,
anyone else having dizzy spells? I am 4 days post-op. Lots of pain last night, a little better today.

I am taking 600 mg Motrin, I am taking Oxycontin off and on, but none today and just got really dizzy.

No fever and blood sugar running normal (Diabetes makes this extra fun lol.) Stitches look ok.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Re: dizzyness

Hi, I am 11 days post op and off pain pills except Advil, but still getting dizzy spells. Not actual room-spinning, but more of a woozy feeling in my head, sometimes with a tight feeling in my head like a tension headache, but no pain. Was actually just coming on here to research it a bit, so I don't have any answers for you. I am wondering if it's still anesthesia after effects or just a general effect from the surgery and healing process.

Re: dizzyness

Also make sure you are drinking lots and lots of water! Might help to sit up slowly too

Re: dizzyness

Keep an eye on your blood pressure! I'll be three weeks post-op tomorrow. Before my surgery, my blood pressure was 130/90 and sometimes higher due to stress and pain. When I had my first post-op exam last Wednesday, my blood pressure was down to 98/64! So I'm having some medications adjusted. The main one is a beta-blocker that's used as an anti-anxietal. I've dropped down from taking it four times a day to taking it twice a day. That seems to have helped so far.

I totally second this, as well. I've drank so much water in the last three weeks, I'm surprised I don't slosh!

Re: dizzyness

Hi, I am two weeks post op from vaginal hysterectomy and ovaries removed. I am glad to hear that other people get dizzy besides me. Some time I have to lay down. Some days it's worse than others. I only take percocet when I need it. I think it is part of the anesthesia.

Re: dizzyness

I read somewhere that it could take 2 weeks for the anesthesia to completely come out of our systems. I'm 11 days post op and I have them occasionally. I also agree with the post about drinking lots of water!

Re: dizzyness

I was dizzy the whole first week or more. It was terrible. Now I sometimes get dizzy when I get up. The other day I was dizzy all day again. Not sure what is causing it at this point. I am wondering if it because I am not in an upright position as much and then when I do get upright I am dizzy? It's no fun, but I think it is just part of the recovery.
