Help! Vaginal antibiotic for vaginitis

Anybody else have to use the vaginal antibiotic gel for bacterial vaginitis? I noticed a yucky yellow discharge 1 week after starting Premarin, and the doctor says it is vaginitis.

My problem is that I'm having a little trouble using the applicator. It is kind of hard to insert. TMI!!! Feels kind of like a dry tampon at first, and I noticed when I pull it out it has a slight bit of blood on it. So, now instead of the yucky yellow discharge, I'm having some slight blood discharge!

Anybody have any tips or suggestions? I know this is a stupid question, but it's bad enough to have the vaginitis irritating everything without the applicator making it worse!

I had the same problem (and I'm also from Montana!).

Make sure you put some extra gel on the applicator tip....and insert it laying down on the bed (that takes pressure off the vagina).

Good luck! Hope you get better soon!!!!

Thank you, Louise! Thanks for the good suggestions, I hadn't thought of those. I will definitely try them.

Leave it to a Montana gal to have a good solution!

Like the other lady, I was going to suggest putting a bit of the antibiotic on the exterior/tip of the applicator--this should help with insertion. Another position that helps with insertion is standing with one foot propped up on the side of the bathtub; and remember to aim the applicator at an angle towards your tailbone.

Feel better soon!
