Vaginal itching?

Surgery was 3/13, earlier today I started to itch, I mean really itch bad inside my vaginal. The only thing I can think of it being is the stitching on the vaginal cuff. Is this itching normal or am I getting a stupid yeast infection too?
I was only on antibiotics in the hospital and have been careful to keep the area clean, so I dont really think yeast infection. I dont normally get them.
And if this itching is normal. How long will it last?

Re: Vaginal itching?

It could easily be a yeast infection or an issue with hormones. It is best to call your doctor and have him or her figure it out. I hope that you can get the itch to stop soon as it can drive you crazy!

Re: Vaginal itching?

Hi I had a lap Total hys on Feb 27. A few days ago I developed a yellow discharge and terrible itching at the entrance of my vagina. I knew exactly what the itching was...beginnings of a yeast infection. I called my doctor and he called in a prescription for diflucan. If it doesn't clear up I have to go see him. The yellow discharge could be from my stitches dissolving. I knew what it was a yeast infection bc I get one every time I take an antibiotic. I suggest calling your doctor. Whether its a yeast infection or not, most likely he/she will need to check it or prescribe medicine. Good luck

Re: Vaginal itching?

Yes, I agree with all of the other HysterSister comments. I had experience that same problems you did about a week after my SAH on Feb. 24. And I went to the doctor two weeks for my first post-op visit and my doctor shared with my I had a bad yeast infection and a UTI. Antibiotic always give me a yeast infection and I have to have a diflucan during and after I finish antibiotics. If you doctor give you diflucan you will get immediate relief within a day. However, if you swet in your sleep you will have a lot of nights that you just want to pull your hair out because you are itching so bad, but that will go away over time with the diflucan. Your doctor may also give you a cream to use for external use and that will help also. Good Luck! I know what you are going through.
