Peylex -

Unfortunately there is no way to be certain where or when each of us have issues. On your questions - Has anyone had issues with HRT? yes and no

Or with sex? yes and no.

You can find threads that support both sides in various forums.

On the intimacy side of things based on my experience, reading and research - If you keep your ovaries that can be a benefit because yuo keep your natural hormones; if you have pain now and the surgery alleviates that pain than things will mor than likely be better. If you have gone through menopuase already or if you have an easy menopause from the surgery than you might transition better. For me, I couldn't keep my ovaries due to a cancer diagnosis and for that reason couldn't do patch/oral HRT either. Loosing my ovaries and going into sudden menopause was not a good combination for me. It took a long time for me to find my new normal.

Some doctors only prescribe HRT based on blood test results and normal is such a wide span that it doesn't always work for every women. Many doctors prescribe based on symptoms. My gyn-oncologist allowed me vaginal estrogen because I was having a bad time with vaginal atrophy. So find out your Drs approach to working through figuring out hormones.

So all I can say is "your mileage may vary" and you will have to find your new normal.
