5 months post op- spotting and cramping
I had a partial hysterectomy (laparoscopic, vaginal assisted) September 12, 2015. Things seemed to be ok once I recovered, except when my husband and I had intercourse, I would have a tiny bit of spotting. This week, I've been spotting more, and now I'm starting to cramp too. Is this normal? I haven't had a period since my hysterectomy.

5 months post op- spotting and cramping
I agree with the previous poster about checking with your doctor about the spotting. As for the cramping, because you kept your ovaries, you will continue to have cycles as before, and the cramping is likely related to that; it's likely coming from your intestinal tract, because it can be stimulated by the same prostaglandins that would stimulate your period. Ibuprofen inhibits prostaglandin activity, so ask your doctor about taking that. Also try supplementing your diet with magnesium, which works by relaxing the involuntary muscles in there; food sources include leafy greens, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and dark chocolate. Best wishes for your continued recovery!

Re: 5 months post op- spotting and cramping
Thanks for the advice. I called my doctor, and I will be going in on Tuesday. They said it sounds like I either have an infection, or I irritated some scar tissue.
