Numbness

I had my hysterectomy on March 7, 2006 and I am still experiencing numbness in the pubic area right below the abdominal incision. Has anyone else had numbness this long? Is is normal to still have numbness?

Numbness

I had a TAH on March 7th. My incision itself is still numb, but I no longer have any numbness around, above, or below the incision. Everyone experiences these differently, so if it concerns you, please talk to your doctor. That's quite a trauma to our bodies, so the healing process does take quite a bit of time.

Numbness

The visiting nurse that came to pack my incision told me it can take up to a year for the nerves to heal, because they are the last thing to heal. I had mine day before you, and I still have numbness below the incision too. Hope this helps.

Thanks kittiezoo. That helps a lot. Now that I know that i am not the only one experiencing this. My doctor told me it should be back to normal within two weeks and those two weeks are up tomorrow.

Numbness

Dear miraculously,
I had a TVH back last June and had no numbness then, but I continue to have alot of numbness from my laparoscopy to remove adhesions and my LSO/RS on March 6th, 2006. I brought it up to my doctor at my two week follow up and my 5 week follow up. He seemed to feel the more "work" is done the more swelling occurs, which leads often to numbness. He did reassure me that once my swelling goes down so will the numbness, hopefully. I did have a great deal of uncomfortable numbness after my c-section in '97 but it lessened over time. I hope that is the case for you, too. I would mention it to your doctor, especially if there is any pain along with the numbness- that sounds nerve-related. Good luck. Oh, and remember, we all heal in our own time. Just because someone else heals faster (or slower) does not mean you will. Listen to your body.
