How much weight can you lift after 8 weeks
I am 5 weeks post op and worry about lifting once I get back to work. I drive about 1 hour each way and have a 7-8 hour day. I am an occupational therapy assistant and will be lifting, bending, twisting to perform my job. I can not go back to work with any restrictions and the job description states I must be able to lift 50 pounds of dead weight. I will have some help from co-workers, but I am worried I will hurt myself. The doctor approved 8 weeks off. Every time I think about going back to work I get a slight panic attack. Do you think this is enough time to heal before going back to work?
Thank you

I would talk with your doctor since we have no way of knowing what your specific surgery entailed. I have a lifelong 10 lb. lifting restriction.

Re: How much weight can you lift after 8 weeks
I am a PTA at a hospital. My doc told me I could go back next week (5 weeks postop) as long as I don't do more than 6 hours a day for the first two weeks, and no lifting over 25lbs. Then she said after the first two weeks I can gradually increase my workload and lifting as I feel comfortable as long as it doesn't make me bleed more than a slight pink tinge when I wipe. She got pretty specific, lol! But I had total DvH, left ovaries.
