Hi I just had my hysterectomy on Feb1st at 7:30 in the morning and

All day yesterday from post op till about 9:45 ot so I was able to keep my pain under good control (as in I couldnt feel it at all) now I took 2 pain pills 2 hrs apar. (I've been told I can take 2 at a time) with me taking Percocet 5mg/325. I can still feel some cramping. Should I start to just take 2 Percocets right away when I feel pain so I won't feel it at all.

Oh and as far as recover I'm already burping and farting :-). I have not had any gassy pains. I've been drinking Sprite to help mebe able to burp. I have had no issues with trying to pee (at least thus far). I feel like for such a short time sice gettin it that I'm doing great but do want to get myself where I don't feel pain.

I have to say the anticipation of surgery is a lot more stressful that the surgery and post surgery (at least for
me I can tell that) I'm happy I had it done.

Re: Hi I just had my hysterectomy on Feb1st at 7:30 in the morning and

Hi taylor :-) I was told to take the max amount needed for good pain relief on a schedule for the 1st few days. So if the rx says take 1 or 2 every 4 to 6 hours, I would try taking 2 every 4 hours, and then back down from there depending on pain level. You can also alternate with motrin if your doc is ok with that...

Hi DueForDaVinci! Thank Your for getting back to me soon about this. Starting tomorrow I will take 2 at a time for the first few days/week. As I can tell taking one at a time isn't working like it was (I also know I was in surgery so I had general anastega before hand to help with the pain).

:-)

No problem! Hope this finds you well. I noticed that I had a "honeymoon period" as well! Where the meds from the hospital kept me comfortable. I found that once that passed, it helped to stay ahead of the pain by rotating the motrin and percocet and to walk when I felt good. Best of luck to you!

Re: Hi I just had my hysterectomy on Feb1st at 7:30 in the morning and

Yeah you'll want to take the full dosage the first few days. And keep on taking them even if you don't hurt. It would be terrible if you waited till you hurt to take the pills. You want to catch the pain before it starts not after. At least that's what the doc's have always told me. That's just like this morning I woke up not in much pain but I learned yesterday the pain gets worse as time goes by so I took a full dose this morning. And I'll continue till the bottle is gone.
