Upcoming hysterectomy 10/7: Adeno/large belly

New here! Scheduled next week for LAVH. I have had four cesareans and thought all these years my large belly was from that. However, I look 5 months pregnant every day and my belly is hard. Anyone with Adeno that also looked this way prior to surgery? My uterus is so severely retro flexed and causing a partial intestinal obstruction. Hoping this pregnant looking belly goes away after my hysterectomy! Any insight?

Thanks!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 10/7: Adeno/large belly

Hello,

I had a previous vertical c-section. Over the last couple of years I noticed the same thing. My mid-section looked like a block and felt hard. I thought it was part of getting older and in part a result of the c-section. But then I was diagnosed with fibroids and the final pathology after hysterectomy confirmed adenomyosis. My uterus was tipped and the top rested just below my belly button.

Initially after my surgery I did not notice any change as everything was bloated. Once I recovered I was able to exercise more and my clothes fit differently. The heavy feeling in my mid-section was gone. Hooray! I have made a lot of changes in exercise and diet. I see much more definition in my mid-section. I know because of my previous c-section I will never have flat abs. I have just decided to make the best of what I do have to work with.

I am sure you will begin to notice relief after your surgery. Good luck and happy healing.

I look pregnant too!!!! I have a prolapsed uterus stage 2. Stage 3 DR's say it's basically falling out. I have 3 fibroids, 2 c-sections same area and other surgeries in belly area so they are thinking lots of scar tissue. 20 years ago had endometriosis which wrapped around my bowel (I'm 44) so docs are thinking endometriosis as well. lots and lots of pain right now. Exercised for 6 years, pretty fit but belly looks huge. it hasn't shrunk
What is Adeno?
My surgery is one day before yours October 6. I hope everything goes well for u. Sorry I couldn't answer your question but it helps to know u are not alone. Take care and I will let u know after surgery.

Upcoming hysterectomy 10/7: Adeno/large belly

Adenomyosis is where the endometrium lining grows into the uterine muscle wall.

Mine is suspected because during an internal exam my doc can feel a mass but nothing shows up on ultrasound. I have a constant pressure feeling under my right rib cage that feel like a baby's foot sitting there. I'm thinking whatever she feels on that right side is pushing everything up.

I have horrible indigestion and reflux from whatever is cramping up that area and can barely eat I feel so full all the time!

Hoping it's just my uterus and afterwards it will be gone. I am constantly bloated.
