endometriosis/salpingiosis pre md appt

Hello! I am a 41 y/o widowed single mom of a 9 year old boy. I had a lap done about 11 years ago and they diagnosed me with endometriosis and endosalpingiosis. I was on injections, then had my son and over the past years it has gotten worse--pain, bowel problems, bleeding etc. I have an appt with the gynocologist on Monday. Any thoughts on if they might do a hysterectomy? I have no objections and have no regrets about wanting one. Lil nervous as it would be pretty big surgery. If I could get one, how long are you off work for a TVH vs TAH.

Thanks! Beth

Re: endometriosis/salpingiosis pre md appt

I am having a TAH and I have been told recovery is a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks and so I am not going to return to work until at least 8 weeks after surgery.

Re: endometriosis/salpingiosis pre md appt

It depends on the type of surgery you have. I had a DaVinci and was off for three weeks. Ask your doctor about what the options are and recovery times that he feels will be reasonable. I would ask him all the questions about other options if there are any and what his recommendation is. I also would not hesitate to get a second opinion to get all your options. I didn't really go for a second opinion technically but all my other doctors were 100% for it and felt I needed it. They also felt my doc was the best around to do it and I would agree that he was. Bedside manner not the greatest but overall has turned out to be a real life saver and endless advocate for me. Good luck with this. We are always here for questions or concerns after your appointment so don't hesitate to ask.Someone will know the answer or have the same questions and concerns. Sending hugs.
