Sad and Bored!
Well ladies, it's been a long road. I will be 4 weeks on Monday with complication after complication. Been through the ringer, and still don't feel much better than a few days post op. Can't eat much, can't sleep well, and the infection in my body has just left me feeling yucky. I am getting so depressed with the slow progress, and am bored with lying around all day. Any ideas of what to do? I have to very active girls, one who was starring in a documentary today and would have loved to be there to watch them film her, but instead had to send my husband, as it is out of town, and a lot of standing, and I am not well enough ! I am home with my 5 year old and she is sooo bored, but I am not able to drive yet, and it's raining outside. We can only do so much, and it's been 4 weeks for her without her mommy able to keep up at her level. I know the situation is temporary, but 4 weeks of such extreme pain and no progress has set my emotions into a whirlwind! I am so grateful for this site as my sanity would be gone without all of you on my side! Any ideas to get me through the next two weeks! Hopefully by next week I will be able to get the infection under control and be able to get out a bit more often (other than all the doctors) ... Here's to all of us out there who are recovering physically, emotionally and spiritually from this traumatic experience.

Re: Sad and Bored!
Hi Watata,
I really feel for you - I'm 6 weeks post TAH/BSO and I've had a really slow recovery. To be honest it's only in the last week or so that I've felt bored (I think I was too unwell before that), but then it was like all the inactivity of the previous week hit me in one go and now I'm so bored and restless. Today I was feeling sore but went out for an hour to the town carnival, just to relieve the bordom, but as soon as I got home again, I'm climbing the walls and twice as sore as before.
So I'll be interested to read any bordom-relieving ideas from others (having sorted photos into albums already!).
Love Ripple
PS I have a 4 1/2 year old and found a good way to while away time was to find/print out as many pictures of him as I could find, then let him stick them in a scrapbook called 'All about Me'. He loved it!

Re: Sad and Bored!
The boredom is rough. I rented a lot of movies that I wanted to see. I also read a lot of books. Magazines are good to because you do not have to concentrate. Just know that you will feel better one day & you will be able to do things again. Best wishes.

Re: Sad and Bored!
First and foremost have you spoken to your Dr about how you are feeling and the level of pain you are still in? If not you should do so. I know we all heal at different rates and everything but it is important to make sure that you are okay. I can relate to some of your concerns as I am back at the castle with an infection. I had only been home for a couple of days before this all started. I called right away as I knew what was happening was not good. From there they followed me pretty closely right up til I was readmitted the other day.
It would be hard to have to miss the activities and I am missing quite a few of my daughters things this month as I am just no where near able to do them yet too much walking/standing. Your kids want you to get well and will understand.
Take care of you and contact the Dr about your concerns. I will pray for your journey to become pain free and send you some strength as well.

Re: Sad and Bored!
Thanks for the concern! Yes after being a squeaky wheel, my doctor has addressed the pain and concerns, have been through every test (CT's, u/s, bloodwork, exams, etc..) to make sure all is ok. The only finding was an infectious process, but is finally under control after 3 different antibiotics. Pain meds were changed yesterday and I am starting to have a few periods of relief. I am glad I was the squeaky wheel otherwise I'd be septic by now! She knows I am frustrated with not being "well" yet. But I think so many of you can relate so much better as you have been through it and she has not. (she even states she can not imagine what I am going through) Gee thanks ! anyways , I am sorry you are not feeling well either and glad they are taking care of you! I know my girls are willing to wait til I am better, and I am trying to just enjoy them as much as I can without doing too much! I have a very understanding husband who although I am starting to see the frustration in him has not taken it out on me. It's just hard being dependent on others when it's usually the other way around! Hugs to a speedy recovery for all of us!
