Re: Surgery Tomorrow! Flipping out!

I am having surgery on June 23rd for a prolapsed uterus and bladder. I noticed things were looking and feeling different 1.5 years ago. When I had a physical at that time my doctor told me it was scar tissue. Three weeks ago after having a bowel movement my hoo- haw came out. As my grandma would say " I'm out where I should be in!" when I wakeup in the morning I feel good, but after being on my feet all day it is so uncomfortable. Sometimes it burns, sometimes I have bladder burning, and sometimes things just hang low. I am scared for this surgery. I am scared I'd having my vagina prolapse after the hysterectomy. My doctor said we could be discussing the same thing 10 years from now again. I wish you the best of luck, and am looking forward to hearing how things go for you!!

Re: Surgery Tomorrow! Flipping out!

Hi ladies, thanks for all the great info. I had the surgery last wed and accually feel really good just kind of tired but I was walking the halls the next day and not needing much for pain except vicodin and motrin. Accually my episiotomies hurt much worse than this surgery even though I had a ton of procedures (hyst, labiaplasty, perineoplasty, bladder repair and at the end he tacked on a tiny repair on the bowel) If it wasnt for the tiredness I would likely be running around her doing things that I shouldnt be doing anyway, so I'm making an extra effort to ask for help. My only problem was my blood pressure dropped cause of the spinal, went down to 77 over 48 for a while and they pumped me full of fluids to fix it. When they took my cath out I could pee right away and my doc was thrilled. But the night I came home my heart started to race at about 150 beats per minute and I had a pain in my left arm so I told DH to call 911 and too a nice little ride in an ambulance my pressure was up at 150 over something. I normaly run low so this was really unusual. They ran tests and kept an eye on the heart and after giving me something to help me relax everything went back to normal. My doc thinks I had a post operative reaction, says my stress hormones are all goofy right now and just trying to get things under control. basically he said cause my heart was elevated for so long and nothing happend I had a stress test and have a great heart lol. Other than that little entertaining moment I feel pretty great accually my emotions are much more stable than before the surgery, pretty sure the ovary he removed was causeing me to have big ups and downs but the one he left in he says looks very good.

He was very surprised I was even walking around as much as I was the first day and although I gave him credit for being such a great surgeon he says its really how healthy I am that makes the big difference. I am so happy that about 2 yrs ago I decided to take control of my life and started to exercise and eat right and lost 90 pounds and felt better than I did in my twenties.

Honestly my fears were much worse than the accual reality, everything was fine even being put under along with spinal I felt great except for a little nausea at first but that went away pretty fast. I have been eating less cause I dont have much of an appetite and drinking lots and have had bm's and am hoping that it can only get better and better.

considering the amount of stuff done I should be knocked on my butt but I'm not. lol if I keep feeling this good I should be able to be back at work in about 2 weeks!

In the mean time I'm gonna milk it around here lol.
