Hyster tomorrow 3rd Dec

Well, my full hyster is tomorrow.
I'm not worried, I'm not stressed - try me later tonight when I'm supposed to be getting sleep!!

My main concerns are:
How long after the operation before I will feel able to drive a car?
How long after the operation before I can walk around comfortably?

Cheers.

First of all, best wishes tomorrow.

The best way to get your questions answered for sure would be to ask your dr. Each dr and patient are unique , so the restrictions can vary. I had to wait 2 weeks before driving. There are some great guidelines listed in the FAQ's for Family and Friends in the Pre Op Articles here click here

Also, it would be helpful if you would go to your profile and add your surgery date.

My doctor said 3 weeks of no driving, but I know that some only restrict you for 2. As for walking around comfortably, I was doing that about 5 days after coming home (I had a TAH). Before that I was okay walking, just felt a little tight, a little pressure and like I couldn't stand up perfectly straight. It really hasn't been bad at all. I'm still pleasantly shocked at my recovery. I've been in LESS pain during recovery than before with the fibroids!

I had 2215 grams or 4.88 pounds of fibroids and "stuff" removed! Yeah! I'm looking forward to being 100% again and working out at the gym.

You'll do great! No doubt about it!

Well of course everyone is different. I had a abdominal hysterectomy on 11/2 and I am feeling wonderful. I drove at 6 days post op and went back to work 13 days post op. I have an hours drive to work and then again on the trip home so I have spent a lot of time driving. I also have an SUV so it was a lot of fun getting up into it (I'm 5'1), but other than that, no major problems. Just listen to your body because it will tell you what you can and can't do. And good luck!!
