Best Wishes to our July 10 Princesses

I can't wait! We are having my family over today to celebrate! NO MORE UTERUS!! YEAH! I've got my house super clean, easy to fix food in the freezer, books to read post op and my bags packed. I can't wait for Monday. Now Monday I may be singing a whole different tune, but right now I can't wait.

Best Wishes to our July 10 Princesses

Best wishes to all- here we go! I'm so glad this site is here for nights like this. It's 3am and I can't sleep at all. I think I'm actually excited about Monday. Right now I'm in the middle of a two-day liquid diet, and I'm STARVING! I heard that the bowel prep was bad (magnesium citrate for two days-not as bad as I thought it would be), but I didn't even think about being hungry. I'm sick of broth and Jello. Oh well, it will all be over soon.

Best Wishes to our July 10 Princesses

I still have broth and jello nightmares!!! I did the 2 day liquids also. Isn't it amazing that we never even think about what is allowed on a clear liquid diet until have to do it. It's brutal. I hated the magnesium citrate! Guess what they fed me post op in the castle! Jello and broth on Sat., Sun., and Mon.

I quit eating on Sun, at 12:45. I told them I couldn't do it anymore. They asked me if I was naseuos and I told them "only when I put jello or broth up to my lips." I felt so sad, hungry, hopeles, and my castle roommate's family showed up with their dinner of homemade tacos. I went out into the hallway and cried! Then I complained to the nurse who told them to have some consideration for all the people on the ward who were on liquid diets.

When I finally made a teeny weeny fart on Monday, I rang my nurse button and asked for food. Within an hour they brought me a tray with 1 scrambled egg, 1 toast, coffee, oatmeal, and juice. I buttered that beautiful piece of toast and cried the entire time I was eating. I made it last over a half an hour. I was more emotional about that solid meal than I could have ever thought possible.

The moral of this story is "Fart as soon as you can after surgery if you want some food!!!"

One of my nurses snuck me a cup of black coffee one hour before the fart came because she said it was ridiculous to have to starve and wait to fart when you had nothing inside your stomach to fart about. The coffee did it and I will forever be grateful to her!

Who would have ever thought that "Farting for food" would make such an interesting statement in the hospital?? My brother often joked he could "fart on demand", I'm hoping I have the same genes
Good luck ladies!

Husband stand in

My husband said he'd sit on the edge of my bed and fart and I could make the face while the nurse was in checking my vitals. Just so I could eat something other than broth and jello.

Have him do it because you do not want to see that awful jello jiggling your way when you have starved for two days!!! Sounds like a great guy!
