Thanks for support
Seeing all those replies meant so much. My problems are so small compared to most, but I feel confident that I have made the right decision. Now just want it to be over with! I am new to this part of the country so have no support group other than DH and this site. Perhaps it's just as well--facing visitors the first week or so doesn't sound like something I'm going to want to do.
You're great and I'll keep on reading!

older can be better

Hey don't take off on us. Get back in touch at least before your surgery date. We are lucky that we are a little older because we can recover without young ones running around and full time jobs to worry about.
You're feeling good about your decision so you are half way home. I'm such a but was ready for surgery when my doctor backed out. We found out prior to the pre op that I have a blood clotting factor and she won't take the risk of major surgery. So I have to grow older to get relief.
I hope the has stopped for now. Take care and keep in touch.

ps I lurked around here for a while thinking I was trespassing. You know, everyone else seemed so young. Yours was a good post and it made me feel better knowing there are some of the 50's crowd out here. We have alot in common. We remember the days prior to the "self stick, adhesive" pads. You know, the "BELT" with the METAL HOOKS!!! Remember the HOOK that always ended up on your tail bone and pubic bone? I was so thankful when they changed the METAL to wonderful plastic. And....... we had no; mini pads, super overnight pads, extra long pads, light day pads, ultra thins, scented, or individual wrapped for your purse pads!! They all came in one size and in a cardboard box!
Oh could we tell some stories!!! We are alright! Take Care.

Thanks Maralyn!
I'd actually forgotten about those horrible belts and never going swimming when you had your period. I have such a supply of pads for different occasions and this after vowing never to wear one again! And you're right--I don't have to worry about a job and how soon I need to get back to it. I don't have much in the way of insurance so my savings account is going to take a major hit. But I'll survive just fine!

Hi, I am 54, will be 55 on Friday and just had surgery last Tuesday, the 9th. Even though I had complications, I am getting better every day. Please email me. I would love to talk to you. Have to get back to bed right now though.
Have a good day tomorrow and I hope to hear from you.
