Wondering if hysterectomy and repair will fix symptons...

I am scheduled for surgery for a vaginal pelvic vault repair with a hysterectomy on March 9. I hadn't realized my symptons were all related. Since I got on the surgery schedule I feel like my symptons are hyper sensitive. For instance my lower back hurts all the time now, pain spiking when I have to use the bathroom and more tired. I am sure it's because my awareness of everything.

Besides the reassurance I need, my question is this, I live in fear of having my period now. I had fibroids for the past number of years, then the doc treated it with hormones, specifically the depo shot. Then had worsening fibroids and ALL the side effects of the shot. The had my period for 4 months straight. Then the next month had heavy bleeding for 36 hours where I couldn't leave the house. That was late October. Then nothing since. So my question is, is it crazy to have fear of te next period? I just don't want it to be debilitating. I feel like I have 1 month left and then I don't have to worry about it. The worse part is I have some mild cramps sn have all the signs of PMS but no period. Argh. So frustrating. I am so frustrated with my body.

Anyone have any experience like this?

Thanks

No not crazy at all. Keep reminding yourself that you will only have one last period before your surgery and then no more. Are you having your cervix removed? If not then consider having it also removed so you have no risk of getting a 'mini period'.
As for your other symptoms it's not possible to know in advance which ones will go away. But your periods will be gone

Hi Angelalar to HysterSisters!

Your periods sound awful. It is not surprising that you fear having them. Anybody would in your condition. It is normal to be hypervigilant about your body at a time like this. Every symptom and pain you notice. If there is something new, though, I would talk to yoru doctor.

It is normal to have second thoughts and concerns about your surgery. I do not know if your surgery will fix your pain problems. You can get alternate opinions on your condition, if you wish. But, having your uterus and cervix removed will eliminate your periods.

We are here for you, and will be by your side throughout this process.
