Exploring - have questions only experience will answer!
Hello - I have large fibroids (uterus size of 5 month pregnancy), and have been told by two docs that I need my uterus removed laparoscopically (I get to keep my ovaries). One question I have is about this idea that my pelvis will spread and my lumbar collapse due to severing of ligaments during the surgery. I have seen this on two different sites, and I understand that each person's surgery is different, but I'd like to hear from women who have actually gone through this - will my hips widen and will my lumbar collapse? Will I experience any body shape changes over the next few years as a result of the surgery?
Thanks ladies! :

Hi Rutsen -
I had a TAH BSO - so that is a total hysterectomy (uterus and cervix) with bilateral salpingo oopherectomy (both ovaries and tubes removed). I had a 6 inch vertical incision. Here is some hysterectomy information.
I have not had any issues with my pelvis spreading, any body shape changes or lumbar collapse. My hips and waist are the same size they have always been (as an adult) and it has been over five years since my surgery. I have not had any prolapse issues either. All ligaments are reattached to provide support.
Be careful with what you read on the Internet. Not everything is correct. This site is loaded with good information. Explore around. Hopefully you can calm your fears.
