I think I am ready for a hysterectomy
Hi friends
I have been in here for about 5 months. I've tried hormones (prometrium and provera). I've had 3 trips to the ER since last November . I had an IUD expell last month after only having it for one month. I have multiple fibroids and no evidence of menopause getting closer. I am on iron supplements for anemia. I have been going to a naturopath and getting acupuncture for the past month. This period (I'm in day 6) had been painful and now the clots started yesterday with gushes. I am writing this from bed. I made an appt for the end of May with a new GYN . I think I am ready to have this uterus out and hopefully get my life back. I'm really scared of not having a hysterectomy and really scared of having a hysterectomy . Help!!!!!

Oh Lorene! Many many hugs to you!
I really hope your new GYN can find the right solution. I know you've been miserable and feeling defeated, but hang in there, sweetie.

Re: I think I am ready for a hysterectomy
Hi Lorene
It sounds like you're really struggling. I'm sending you lots of hugs, minus my own cramping (they can stay here! ).
I've been there many times before, declaring "screw this, just take it out!!". Mostly out of frustration and desperation, and wanting it just to all go away.
I have a good plan, though, and after a few long, agonizing days, I feel like I'm ready to stick to it again. It's hard when you're bed-ridden and feel like your body is against you---at least it is for me!
Hopefully your new gyne will have some options for you, or at least be able to support you through a hysterectomy if that's the right decision for you.
Keep us updated on how you're doing!

I would love to hear your plan! I am in a roller coaster and yes the days I am bedridden I just don't care anymore. Then when I start to feel better I think , "I can do this!" I struggle with anxiety during the bad days and that's a real struggle too. I want to avoid surgery so badly and then I wonder if it would be easier to get it over with. It's so hard as you know what is best. Thank you so much for responding ...it really means so much!

Thank you so much! My emotions have been getting the best of me . I went to accupunture today and just lied on the table and cried . I'm not really a crier so it was probably good for me! : ).

Re: I think I am ready for a hysterectomy
Hello Lorene,
You are not alone. I can remember going into my annual checkup last October and telling my doctor much the same thing. I was not ready for a hysterectomy. However, after the last 6 months of pain, lots of heavy bleeding for years, myosure for a fibroid removal and a failed IUD after only two weeks. I am finally ready to throw in the towel too.
I had my IUD removed this past Friday after too many side effects and simply told him to have them set me up in three weeks so I can get things in order at home and for my office.
We are all here for each other.

Hang in there Lorene! You will know when it is time for a hyst. I think you've considered all of your options and tried many solutions. At least you can be confident that you tried to avoid it. That's my plan anyway... hoping this second UFE worked, but if it doesn't then I will be right there with you. You can only do so much before it's time to resort to the ultimate solution. :-)

Lorene,
When is your appointment with a new gynecologist? I've been thinking of you and wanted to see what they suggest. (((Hugs)))
