Pain in left side of abdomen...
I'm 6 weeks post op with a 12" vertical Incision that is slightly to the left of center.
Since yesterday I've been experiencing severe burning or tearing pain about 3-4" to the left of the middle of my incision (below my navel) when I bend over, as in to get something out of a kitchen cabinet or pick something up off of the floor, climb the stairs, get out of the driver's seat of the car etc... There is no pain when I am lying down, standing or sitting quietly...
DH thinks I might have just done to much the last couple of days... But I'm afraid it maybe the beginning of a hernia...
Has anyone else experienced this? Did it resolve itself?
I'd appreciate your thoughts...

Pain in left side of abdomen...
I've had that same pain in the same spot, left lower quadrant since the first week of surgery. I also had it in my right side. I'm 5 months post today. The right side let up at about 3 months. The left side pain is still there...worse if I sit too long or work too much. It burns and hurts only when I move. If I lay still and press with my fingers I feel no pain.
I went to see my doctor about this at 4 1/2 months. she found granulation worse on the left side of the vaginal cuff and said if granulation is there for her to see, then it's also on the other side of the cuff, internally. she said the pain was probably due to scar tissue from that side of the cuff. Otherwords, "adhesions" but she didn't say the word. I had asked her twice to please use an adhesion barrier during surgery but she didn't think it would do any good.
I'm not happy about this scar tissue (same as adhesions )diagnosis because there is nothing that can be done about it. The pain on my right did go away however...so I'm hopefull that if I continue to work through the pain and not baby myself it too will let up one day.
I'm still waiting for that day! "frazzled". Wanted to let you know that it could be other things too. It could be just plain tenderness, maybe a trapped nerve, a hernia, an old unresolved hematoma....doctor can help you sort that all out.
My doctor said I was slow to heal and even at 4 1/2 months she felt I was still early in recovery. She left me just a little bit of hope. At 6 weeks it's important to keep doing your routine and adding more to it...it's also imortant to kick up the feet and rest.
Good luck to you,
Maralyn

Pain in left side of abdomen...
Thanks for the response, Maralyn.
I don't think it's my cuff... I have no granulation...it's healing very well. I never thought about adhesions though...
I'm hoping it's just a pulled muscle or something like that... It's pretty intense though!

Pain in left side of abdomen...
I had similar pain on my left side. I am 5 months post op after having a SAH and kept both ovaries.
2 weeks agao via ultrasound, I was found to have developed a complex ovarian cyst on my left one which contained endometria. Also the ovary had stuck to my bowel. They had to go in and remove the ovary. While they were in there they removed adhesions etc.
I am 3 days post op from this recent surgery and am progressing each day. Hopefully when I am healed, the pain will be gone from that left side.
your pain could be an ovarian cyst.
