one week post tomorrow & have questions

well the day finally came and went(thank goodness)& I'm relieved but have a few questions.I had a TAH and am still in alot of pain.Did anyone have lower abdomen heaviness?I feel like I need to have a BM all the time & have alot more pain on my left side than my right.I was supposed to keep both ovaries but one ovary was engulfed by a fallopean tube & my uterus was adhered to my bladder and abdomen. My surgery was supposed to last 1 hour & instead it took 4.Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms?Any responses would be appreciated.

one week post tomorrow & have questions

I'm 11 weeks post op and still have heaviness. My op took 3 hours instead of 1 and I'm still in a lot of pain, so I wonder whether having to do more to get it out once they're inside makes a difference to this, but a week is a relatively short space of time, my advice is to rest let other people do everything for you if you can. I know it sounds a long time away, but by 4 weeks the pain I had at 1 week post op was much easier. I find any constipation makes my pain worse even now so plenty of fruit and fibre. Hope this helps! Take care.

I am sorry for your discomfort. Sounds like they had to do quite a bit more work on you than they expected. There is a lot of manuvering inside of you during your hyst, so it often takes awhile for everything to settle down, find its rightful place, and feel well. You are still pretty early in your recovery so it is likely everything inside is feeling a bit "bruised" so to speak. If you are constipated, this could contribute to your symptoms. You may wish to talk to your dr about what is best for you if this is part of your problem. Best wishes to you and many s for your recovery.

one week post tomorrow & have questions

I had a TAH/BSO and I have a lot more discomfort on my left side than my right. My bladder was stuck to a mesh patch used to repair a hernia, but many many adhesions from 3 c-sections. The doctor told me I did make him sweat a bit while he was doing my surgery. I have the buises on my stomach to prove it. I asked him if he stood on me to get the stuff out! He told my DH is should hurt like hell. That pain only lasted a few days and everyday is better and better. I figure the left side discomfort will just be my reminder of how lucky I am that Ihad this done and will just one day not be there.

I had abdominal "heaviness" until almost 3 months post-op and my GYN said I was probably just a slow healer. I found that lying down flat for an hour or two each afternoon, plus OTC pain meds made that part of my recovery more comfortable.

You are still very early in your recovery and it takes a while for all the traumatized organs and tissues to heal. Rest lots, drink lots of water and

You had several unexpected things going on that they had to take care of, which means more moving things around in there. Abdominal heaviness and pain would seem normal to me after all you had done. I had a TAH and still feel "heavy" and achey down there. My first week was quite painful. I was careful to watch my pain management, and tried not to allow myself to get into too much pain. Your body reacts to the stress of being in pain, which slows your healing (I was told), so I would keep on top of keeping your pain manageable and in control so you can relax your body as much as possible. Best wishes to you, Katherine
