5 week 2 days post op appt & vent about doc

Finally had my post op today. Doc said I'm where I should be. I got the impression he didn't believe that I still have pain when sitting anywhere but my recliner with pillows under my legs. His exam HURT, he poked on my vagina & belly HARD. I haven't bled one drop since surgery but I'm bleeding now after he violated me.

He told me that if I'm doing something that hurts to keep on doing that thing anyway. HUH??? That just doesn't sound right to me. He told me the stitches will be dissolved by 8 weeks. He said that I'm far along enough that I won't damage anything. I don't think he realizes that just going to the grocery store gives me pains that stop me in my tracks & make me double over. I HAVE to stop what I'm doing when it hurts. He didn't ask any questions about activities or how my pain is, etc. He acted as if I was lying when I said I still feel like crud.

I asked about douching. I feel like I need to, not because anything yucky is going on, but because I always did after my periods ended. He said don't ever douche again & that infections always happen because of something from outside.

He wants a 1 year post op appt, then pelvic exams once every 2 or 3 years....YAY.

Anyone have any thoughts about the "keep doing what's hurting you" instruction?

your DR. sounds like mine! went in for staple removal at one week and doc told me that my weight limit was 30#. I said to him "30#?, or whatever I feel I can do?" needless to say, I'm not stupid and I have not or will not lift anything that could cause problems. Take your time and I will say a prayer for a strong recovery for you.

I am at 6 weeks and my doctor told me not to lift anything over 10 pounds. He said it could take 6 months or more for everything to heal inside. I go back on the 17th for my exam. It will be nearly 8 weeks then. I can't imagine lifting over 10 pounds. I can tell when I over do because I start aching. If in doubt go to another doctor.

Yeah, I think the docs should have to experience any surgery they are going to perform, lol. They just don't have a clue what this feels like. I think I'll go with what the majority says their docs told them on this site. If it hurts, I'm stopping. He mentioned nothing about lifting, but I know how my tummy & vagina tell me "STOP IT" & I'll continue to listen. I started back to work last week...from home on computer. Between you & me I haven't done a whole lot & haven't really put in a full work day yet, but I still feel ready for bed at 6:00 pm.

Oh, I almost forgot, he also told me I made the right decision because I was "an ugly mess in there".

I think I will find another doc the next time I need one.

Now I have something to look forward on 7/22...the Sammy Hagar concert, which I have to drive 3 hours to get to. I'm going to do my best to not overdo things so I can handle that day & night. Nothing will keep me from my Sammy.

I go back to DR on the 24th. So I'll see what he has to say then. Hopefully he won't be having any brain farts that day.(haha)
