Today is my pre-op consultation. Please let me know what questions I should ask and issues I should address. I have a list I would like some feed back if you could help me.

My pre-op was yesterday. I had all the usual paperwork, ekg, and blood drawn. The only unusual thing was the hospital put a lovely plastic bracelet on me and told me to keep it on until my surgery tomorrow! I thought that was really odd. I ask the alot of the questions I've seen listed on this site: How long will my stay be? Can my husband stay the first night? How long will the surgery be? How long will I be in recovery? One big thing I wanted to make sure of was what to do to aid in recovery. I have been "looked over" before. The nurse told me about the deep breathing, coughing, rotating your ankles and feet, frequent small walks, and turning often in bed. That way I can start as soon as I'm awake. Hope this helps...good luck with your surgery...is yours tomorrow also?

I have only been here since yesterday. My TAH is scheduled for Thursday, June 14. Thanks for the valuable information that I have already been able to use. I am apprehensive, but trying my best to maintain some measure of calm. My pre-op is on Monday. Will be checking back later,
