Any last minute adivce?

I think I've read all I can here, but wondering if there is any last minute advice for me before my surgery in the morning? Will I be sleeping most of the day tomorrow or will my husband be able to join me and eat dinner together in my room?

I don't quite know the lingo here, but I am having my uterus taken out vaginally for andemetriosis.

Re: Any last minute adivce?

good luck tomorrow morning! i slept most of the day on and off- i didn't eat much- but everyone is different. My husband was there when i came out of surgery and put into the room. He left a little while later while i rested, he came back later before dinner- he stayed until they kicked him out!
The most important advice i recieved was " YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE TO HEAL SO MAKE SURE YOU DO IT RIGHT- REST AND BE PATIENT!!!

Re: Any last minute adivce?

Thank you! Yes, I have read the moving helps. Not sure why, but I will take that advice even though I am sure I won't want to.

Don't forget to put your surgery date in your profile so you can post on the post-op forum. Also it will enable you to participate in your Recovery Progress thread for this week.

I wasn't asleep the entire day although I dozed frequently. I sent my DH to the cafeteria to eat, all they would give me is bland foods at first.

Re: Any last minute adivce?

I wonder why the clear diet. I guess just to be easier on your system.

Lovetocook, how are you feeling? Did you spend one or two nights in the hospital.

Re: Any last minute adivce?

I had a TAH. Husband was there when I went into room then left when I feel asleep. He then returned around dinner time and stayed until asked to leave. I didn't eat the first day, and slept off and on the whole day. I spent two nights in the hospital. Good luck tomorrow.

Re: Any last minute adivce?

I will be thinking about you in the morning. I had a LAVH on June 30. I did rest most of the day. As a matter of fact, I sent my husband to work when I returned from the recovery room. (He just works down the street from the surgical center.) He came after work with a Starbucks and a smile for me! My doctor made me eat, particularly when I was taken off of the IV pain meds and put on pills. I only ate a few Cheezits though. Around 10 o'clock that night though I did get a little hungry. When I saw how big the chicken wrap was, I thought that I would not be able to eat it all, but I did.

My doctor was all about getting up and doing the regular stuff as soon as possible. I was able to get up to use the bathroom right away. I had no catheter. I could eat and drink right away, too. He was (and still is) really good about paoin meds, too.

I feel like I was very prepared for surgery. I knew there would be some pain and there was. It is not totally unbearable, however. Just keep on top of the medication. It's really not that bad!

Best of luck tomorrow!
