Bronchitis scare

I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy on 12/31.

Yesterday, I started feeling a tightness in my chest. I also started coughing a ton... A deep cough. All symptoms point to bronchitis. It's still really early - I've only had symptoms for a day. It may be nothing.

Has anyone had surgery with a cold? I have had this surgery postponed twice now. I am tired of living in pain. I really need this done!

Re: Bronchitis scare

They probably won't postpone for a cold. But bronchitis may be another story. Contact your doctor asap in the morning if you don't feel better. If you need antibiotics, starting earlier may mean not moving a surgery date.

Re: Bronchitis scare

Definitely call your doctor ASAP. Surgeries can get cancelled if you are sick with a cold or otherwise. But they can give you meds to help. Just do not self medicate with OTC vitamins or other drugs without doctor approval.
