Anyone have to get blood before hysterectomy?

Forgot to ask this on my last post. Today at my pre-op my doctor told me if my iron is still really low, I would need to come to the hospital the night before my surgery to get blood, she said she don't like to do that but when my labs come back she will let me know for sure. I'm so scared to get blood I'm always thinking it's infected with some kind of disease, I'm sure they test it but still paranoid.

I still can't get over no deodorant the day of surgery.

I have read of other women having a transfusion before their surgeries. They check the blood supply very carefully - it goes through lots of tests before they give it to patients.

The no deodorant rule, as well as others, is also for your health. Do not worry about it. You probably also cannot have on nail polish or toe polish. It is all aimed at protecting your health, and allows them to do their job better.

i have my nails painted always so i am sure i will forget that one. If i do they will hand me remover and make sure i take it off (have done that before).

Unless you live where it is really hot you should be ok without deo for a bit lol.

You will get a list of dos and donts, including what meds are restricted. Please let them know about any prescription or OTC meds you take, including any herbs, teas, flax seed, Vitamins, etc. It is very important that they know EVERYTHING.

For example, at the time of my surgery I was putting ground flax seed in my yogurt. Ground flax seed was not on the avoid list, but I thought I better ask since it is more unusual. I asked and they told me to stop the flax seed as it can thin your blood. So, you just do not know...
