Tammy,

I'm so glad to hear you say that you are going to call your doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Look at it this way, if your doctor would happen to postpone the surgery it is for your well-being.

Some gals have had to have surgeries post-poned. I know it's frustrating but you do need to be as healthy as possible going into this major surgery.

Please keep in touch and let us know how things work out.

call Doctor

I was scheduled to have my surgery today and made it to the operating door (white stockings and blue cap) when the anesthologist (sp) heard me cough. Checked my throat and said that I would have to postpone my surgery. She said it was not safe to open myself up to more infection. I had called my doctor on friday and again on monday and He said no problem your are having an epidural so a cold will not matter. I guess you know how frustrated I am, so close but still not there. I am really confused as what to do now--not sure I can trust my doctor's judgement. Went for a throat culture and have to wait 2 days for results then reshedule surgery. I don't know if I will have the courage to do this again. Call your Doctor but just know that it is the anesthologist who will decide if you are healthy enough to go into surgery.

Tammy -
I'm glad you got antibiotics from your doc - hopefully it will do the trick!

I had to postpone my surgery (was supposed to be today) because of a cold which turned into bronchitis. Based on how I feel, I can't imagine trying to recover from this and surgery at the same time. Besides - it's just not worth adding any extra risk.

PA Lady -
How frustrating to get all the way into operating room to have it canceled! Hang in there - I hope you start feeling better soon!

I came down with a cold 2 weeks before mine. I was fine when it came time. You have a week. I'm glad you called the doc. I don't know if antibiotics will really help if its viral, but I guess it won't hurt either. Rest and drink lots of juices. You need to get those lungs well or they will not do surgery.

I also started getting a cold yesterday but it's a head cold which will most likely end up in my chest :hair: My DR said plenty of rest, sleep, and lots of Vit C. I am also taking a supplement with Vit C,
Zinc, and Echinacea and drinking plenty of juice.
Palady I am so sorry you had to go through that. I can't imagine how you feel. I pray I will be ok by June 18th.
My prayers are with all that are suffering from this bug!!
