Endo and adhesions

I would like to know how you feel after your hysterectomy...i also have endometriosis and adhesions....My body feels like this is the right thing...my mind however does not. I went in for scope and laser clean out. they closed me back up and sent me home...said due to the adhesions and endometriosis...i have to have hysterectomy..no scope no laser...cut open.. I do not want to have hysterectomy if it is just adhesions that are hurting my back and causing all this pain. I have had endometriosis for a long time...have always been able to have scope clean out. I am very torn...I have worked five years on loosing all my baby weight and had tummy tuck and lipo ...worriied this is where all the adhesions came from. I dedicated this day to reading and trying to learn all i can....any info will help...Please respond

Endo and adhesions

Hi madmer98,

I'm so sorry you feel torn between what needs to be done, and what you want to do! I haven't had my TAH yet, but I'm heading to the castle next Wednesday (Oct. 3rd), and I will definitely update as soon as I feel up to it. Our experiences are SO beneficial to each other, so I will definitely share. Best of luck to you!!!

I have a question for anyone who might be able to answer this...can someone please tell me what "BSO" stands for? I've seen the abbreviation used here before, and sure enough...my paperwork I have to bring with me to the hospital says "TAH/BSO", so just out of curiosity, I would love to know what the BSO stands for. Thanks!

Edit: Just wanted to add that I found the answer to my own question. Under the tab titled "Quick Links", there is a link for abbreviations. It can be found here: ~Abbreviations~ The definition of "TAH/BSO" is as follows: "TAH BSO--Total Abdominal Hysterectomy- Bilateral Salpingoopherectomy---Removal of uterus and both tubes and ovaries." In my personal case, so long as my ovaries appear healthy, I'll be keeping them, but as this says...everything else will be going!

Endo and adhesions

I had a TAH 9/4/07 due to endometriosis and adhesions. I am 3 weeks post-op. I had surgery Tues and discharged Thursday noon. I was ready and was telling them to let me go since I was taking oral pain meds and it was under control. I had good support at home. But I sent hubby back to work Friday morning since I could get out of bed and get my own snacks/water/med etc. Hubby and 17 y/o dtr did all cooking, cleaning etc. It was a tough the first 2-3 days at home. But every day got better. Really, the hardest part was not over-doing it. I did too much bending (loading dishwasher, picking up stuff). Made me feel worse. So please take it easy and let others do the hard stuff. As long as I behave, I feel great and am enjoying the past two weeks off work! The weather is great and I enjoy going outside! Everyday I walk and it really helps. Take care and good luck, it will be ok.
