I need some female support....

My surgery is 2 days away and I am getting a bit nervous..especially since I have to take BP meds and will probably have to stop one of them before my surgery (and that's the one that keeps my pulse from racing). I am seeing the doc today to confirm.

I am sorry you lost your mom. I am sure she is sending all the suport she can to you. Post on this site anytime. These gals are great and very supportive. We are all in this together.

I need some female support....

I was taken by surprise how crazy I felt leading up to my surgery date as well (June 7th). But don't forget that it is a big deal...and it only makes sense to feel anxious!

If it's any help, I found the unknown of it all to be the worst. But when it was actually happening, it didn't seem nearly as bad. I have this theory that "fear" is a real jerk. It's whole purpose is to scare us! But when something is actually happening in the moment, we are given so much more to deal with it at that time. This will be true for you. You will be able to deal with everything that comes up moment by moment. And you will be given all you need!

I'm so sorry about your mom. All the more reason to be all the more gentle with yourself during this time!

Take care..and many blessings to you!

p.s. One bit of advice for all you who are pre-op (it may sound a little odd, but this comes from experience). As soon as you can post-op, start doing what you can to combate constipation (i.e. bran, prunes/prune juice, stool softeners, frequent little walks, etc.). This was the one thing post-op that gave me the most trouble. But it is also something you can help along...so better to err to the side of caution. You'll be glad you did. (Make sure you clear it with your DR first)

I need some female support....

Hi Sheldy,
I know exactly how you feel losing your mom right before surgery. I lost my mom 6 months before mine and my grandmother 5 months before that. That was the worst year in my life...the only 2 women who I have grown up around and they both leave me within 5 months of each other. I was so glad to have this site to come to and all the sisters here are wonderful. It feels like they are my real sisters which I was an only child so now I have tons of sisters I never had.
My DH was nervous to but I had him read the Mr. Hyster page and it made him relax some. I had an easy recovery compared to some and I am thankful for that. Everything will work out and we are always here for you when needed.
Take care
Kim
