I'm so glad you were able to face the surgery and that you're feeling well enough to be online now. I look forward to reading your updates in the post-op forum.

Re: surgery tomorrow 8/31 I'm SOOO scared
My Mom passed away 12 years ago and I miss her everyday. The past few months even more. My Dad passed away last year he had lived with us for a few years and the house still feels empty without him. His birthday is on 9/4 so he has been on my mind a lot. Labor Day weekend was usually a birthday party for him.
I hope you are all feeling OK and healing well

Re: surgery tomorrow 8/31 I'm SOOO scared
this has definately been the site to come to after i knew my surgery was 8/31.
We as women are usually so close to our momies and it helps to find support with others who have gone though the same. I am hurting quite a it. my doc had said i would feel like i had a baby or episiotomy stich but i must say its a little worse. apparently while i was in recovery i woke up saying my vajayjay hurt, apparently the nurses and my doc had a fun time with that. my hubby came back to see me and said it was like i had multiple personalities because of the way i acted and talked. i woke up during my breast implants once they were sewing me. that was in the doc office and he doesnt use the strong stuff like the hospital. apparently i woke up sooner than i should have today because when I woke up i felt the pain and they had not given me the demoral in my iv yet. my poor hubby i was asking for then when he got there he tried to hold my hand and hug and I said "dont touch me my vajay jay hurts i want meds!" the nurse said she had just given me the meds I said "I DONT CARE I NEED MORE" once the anetsia wore off and i had pain pill I slept 3 hours and woke up woozy, slurred speach then peed (thats still an issue I sit and a little will come out but they said it will be like that because of the cathadar (sp) but once i peed those barely little streams I CAME HOME to my own bed! Now I cant sleep and my docs office i just called and they said i should not mix vicodin with sleep meds i may be staring at the tv or computer lol. i love all our sisters on here THANKS to all the princesses!

Happy to hear all went well enough for you to get online soon after surgery. Pray you allow yourself time to rest and recooperate and that you are pampered at this time of recovery. God bless.

Re: surgery tomorrow 8/31 I'm SOOO scared
I had the same diagnosis and had my surgery a week ago. I feel great now and have no regrets. I believe hysterectomy is the standard procedure for our diagnosis, but you should do your research and always get a second opinion. I don't want any organs in my body that want to kill me and that I don't need. I had my one week check-up today and I'm healing beautifully. The pathology report isn't back yet, but the doctor feels positive that she got everything. I'd rather feel that I'm cancer-free than worry about it spreading to ovaries, etc. I'm 51 years old, so I'm not too emotionally attached to these body parts. You need to make your own decision for yourself. For me, I don't regret my decision for a second. Good luck to you!

Re: surgery tomorrow 8/31 I'm SOOO scared
I actually had an endometrial biopsy done in the summer of 2008. It came back negative. I was bleeding 24/7 for the entire year so a new doctor recommended an ablation procedure and and D&C. A biopsy was done three weeks ago at the time of the D & C (standard procedure) and that came up positive. It was a shocker and I had no time to process it before I had my hysterectomy. It is almost 6:30 am a week after I came home from the hospital and I am feeling better every day. Before the surgery I would have have told you that it was the scaryiest thing I every did. The Saturday before my procedure I was a basket case. Now that it is behind me I can still say it wasn't easy, but (pending the path report that I'm hoping will come in today and give me a clean bill of health), I am now walking around with a 95% chance of NOT getting ovarian, uterine or cervical cancer. I actually feel for women with all their "stuff" who think "poor you" when they hear of my hystectomy. They probably have a much higher chance of being struck by this silent killer disease than I do. I feel so lucky that all I had to do to feel safe was give up a week of my life feeling uncomfortable and few weeks getting strong again. Please do not use my words to determine whether or not to have your hystectomy. You must do your research and make your own informed decision. I'm just saying that if you do decide to go this route and it is right for you, you don't need to fear it. It's hard to recover, but you do and you come out of it with a strength that you never knew you had. The worst part of it is where you are right now...waiting and worrying. I wish that all this would be behind you soon...and it will. I am wishing you the best.
